Lindsey Reid, Owner
My parents started Direct Printing and Graphics back in 1993. My dad had been in offset printing for years and to this day, his memory for past jobs is uncanny. He can recall details from decades ago: the paper stock used, the size of the run, even the customer’s preferences. It's a skill that only comes from deep care and craftsmanship.
As a kid, I have vivid memories of tagging along with my dad to giant print shops. The smell of ink, the sound of machines humming, the organized chaos of the bindery... it was all magical. For many, that kind of environment might feel overwhelming. For me, it felt like home.
In 2016, I officially joined the business, with a goal of growing the promotional merchandise side of our work. My parents, ever pragmatic, warned me: print was changing. Even my employer at the time, when I handed in my resignation — told me the industry was dying.
But I felt something different. I saw possibility.
Taking on this new challenge lit a fire in me. I discovered how much I love leading a team, building something together, and fostering a creative, collaborative environment. This work is so much more than ink on paper or logos on mugs. It’s about helping people bring their ideas to life.
The lessons I’ve learned from my parents are woven into everything I do.
My dad is the ultimate salesman. The kind of person who knows what a client needs before they do. He taught me that relationships and trust are everything, and that success often comes down to partnering with the right people.
And then there’s my mom — the quiet powerhouse behind the scenes. She was the engine of the business, running the operations, making it all work. She is brilliant, humble, and fiercely capable. I like to think I carry a little bit of both of them with me every day.
Building a business with your family has its complexities, but for me, it’s been a gift. I get to continue a legacy and shape it for the future.
